- Helping us in caring for 50 sled dogs. Expect long days mushing to help train an Iditarod team. Plus more trail miles training the yearlings. Along with walking, feeding, scooping, watering, etc. all that makes a kennel go round. Housing, heat, electric (though limited to generator and solar) $100 weekly food stipend. Potential guiding opportunities available for the right fit for more pay starting mid to late winter. This is not a job to make money. You will learn to mush and train professional distance sled dogs. Winter living and survival. As well as experience off grid living in Alaska. Many other duties will include but not limited to chopping meat, social media posts for the kennel, sorting and packing drop bags, sorting thousands of dog booties, chopping wood, handling during races or caring for the kennel during races. Experience preferred but not required. Starting Mid November through April. This job also leads into summer handling and guiding opportunities in South East Alaska. We live in a yurt on 40 acres of remote land in Two Rivers Alaska. Seemingly endless mushing and hiking trails right off the porch.
