- Job Title: Drone Technician I - Internship Location: Fremont County, WY Reports to: GIS and Drone Specialist FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Seasonal Housing: Provided Summary: Under the direction of GIS and Drone Specialist, this internship will offer a broad range of opportunities that are directly associated with the management of invasive and noxious weeds within Fremont County, WY. Duties and Responsibilities: • Adhere to all FCWP District policies • Ability to communicate effectively with FCWP staff, landowners, and concerned members of the public • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment • Identify invasive and noxious species at various growth stages • Acquire a Wyoming Commercial Pesticide Applicator License within one month of employment, Commercial Core and 901A-Agricultural weed certification • Calibrate spraying equipment • Safely mix and load agricultural pesticides • Read and understand pesticide labeling • Apply pesticide to target pests utilizing backpack, handgun, and broadcast spray equipment • Control target pests utilizing mechanical control methods such as pulling, digging, cutting, and chopping • Operate and navigate effectively using a GPS unit • Collect data using a GPS unit • Perform computer related tasks using GIS software and Microsoft Office • Keep and file required daily records • Follow district record filing protocols • Aquire the FAA trust certificate within one month of employment • Charge and replace drone battery packs • Safely operate District equipment on and off road • Perform light maintenance on district equipment • Perform other duties as assigned General Expectations • Represent the District in a professional manner • Report any safety issues to direct supervisor • Be punctual and manage time at work effectively • Work well in a team environment • Maintain a positive attitude • Work outdoors for extended periods of time Qualifications • An enrolled student majoring in GIST, geography, drone science, biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, or related field. • Must be 18 years or older • Must have a current driver’s license and clean driving record • Walk for extended periods on rough terrain • Have knowledge and experience using computers Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Position requires the safe use and handling of pesticides. • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud as the location of work place varies from normally quiet office to working in the field around noisy equipment. • Temperature can vary from normal indoor office environments to outside working conditions running from sub-zero in the winter to 100 degrees plus in the summer.
