- Core duties will include operating swim in duck traps, identifying, banding, sexing and aging all ducks captured. Collection of morphometric measurements and maintaining data and creating data set. The ability to work independently (unsupervised), manage time and to collect high quality data is imperative. Work on weekends is required and is up to the selectee to take opportunities to take leave when field work allows. Individuals with B.S. Degree in Wildlife or related field preferred. Availability until end of September needed. Department vehicle available for field work activities. This position does not include housing but contact to acquire low quality field house can be provided. The State of Nevada is in a legislative session where it is anticipated they will be increasing salaries by 8-10% on July 1, 2023. - Qualifications
- REQUIRED SKILLS: Possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Position works independently operating swim in duck traps, banding waterfowl, identifying ducks by species, sex and age. Collection of morphometric measurements and maintaining data. Working a non-traditional schedule including weekend work is required. Work conditions involve working and standing in water in wetland marshes in adverse weather with exposure to insects. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work effectively in adverse weather conditions, remote geographical areas and in all types of wilderness terrain. A valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
