Description
As a member of the duck production program team, the Canada Duck Production Coordinator is an organized and self-motivated individual with a strong science and waterfowl management background. This position has a variety of responsibilities and opportunities, but this person will primarily focus on the delivery and oversight of Delta Waterfowl’s Hen House and Predator Management projects in the Canadian prairies. - Manage operations of the Delta Waterfowl Hen House program and Predator Management program within Canadian target areas. - Assist with developing an annual budget for Hen House and Predator Management programming. - Recruit and train Hen House Delivery Contractors responsible for installation, maintenance, and monitoring of nest structures. - Identify contractors or other entities to construct Hen House components as needed. Distribute nest structure and associated materials to Hen House Delivery Specialists on necessary timelines. - Locate sites to be used as Hen House distribution centers in Canada. Maintain centers and inventory of materials for annual projects. - Assist Delta chapters in developing productive, well-managed, and long-lasting nest structure programs. - Respond to Hen House and wood duck box questions from Delta members and others via email, social media, and phone conversations. - Work with provincial and federal agencies, along with other non-profit organizations, to obtain permission and permits to deliver Delta programs. - Generate any necessary annual proposals and close-out reports for provincial and federal permitting agencies for required permits. - Use available technology (GIS) and field reconnaissance to select, map, and evaluate Hen House and Predator Management programs. - Conduct annual site selection/verification flights to evaluate new and existing Predator Management sites for biological and logistical requirement compliance. - Represent Delta at annual meetings with permitting agencies to discuss Predator Management research and delivery permit needs. - Plan and execute annual Delta trapper meetings, specific to assigned jurisdiction. - Assist duck production team in recruiting new trappers and distributing trapping equipment as needed. - Assist Delta science team with the determination of research needs and development of high-quality research projects. - Provide on-the-ground assistance to the science team, including equipment purchase/preparation, study site determination, and landowner permission. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: - Master’s degree in a science-related natural resources field or a Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of related experience. - Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with multiple stakeholder groups. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Must be proficient with Microsoft applications including spreadsheets, internet, and computer applications. - Must be familiar with geographic information systems (GIS) software and applications. - Must be able to carry 50 pounds unassisted - Should be able to operate a truck and trailer and small equipment (bobcat) - Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and guidance. - Must have demonstrated leadership skills, possess excellent organizational skills, and work well as a team member. - Trustworthy and possessing the highest level of personal and professional integrity and quality standards. - Must be willing to incur overnight travel.
