- Positions are Field Based and Remote: Ecological Field Specialist(s) – Immediate Need Temporary Position(s): $18-25/hour with overtime pay in excess of 40hrs/week. Candidates to expect 60-hour work week average. Travel/Lodging/Meal per diems provided when working remotely. Atwell, LLC (Atwell) is seeking Ecological Field Specialists (field technicians and team leads) with experience conducting habitat assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys and wetland delineations. These positions will be immediately supporting ongoing projects in Texas and Louisiana. Current project team needs are field based however adaptive candidates can expect extended, and potentially full-time employment opportunities offers. Technical job tasks include being a responsible team member for longer term (several weeks/months) field efforts conducting wetland delineation fieldwork, natural resource technical assessment efforts, ensuring field data integrity through project QAQC processes, and reviewing technical reports. Field efforts to be conducted while strictly adhering to project Health & Safety protocols and guidelines. Administrative responsibilities include proactive and consistent communication with project management and Atwell human resources staff. Successful candidates will be part of projects requiring substantial field efforts utilizing emerging GIS data collection technologies to evaluate potential impacts to natural resources. Scheduling flexibility and a willingness to travel are required for the nature of field efforts of project work. Our teams are involved in diverse projects across many business lines including: renewable energies, utilities, infrastructure, habitat restoration, and mitigation banking. What you will accomplish: • Conduct field efforts of wetland projects: including wetlands and waters of the U.S (WOTUS) potential jurisdictional delineations and determinations. • Conduct habitat assessments of rare, threatened and endangered species. • Prepare and review technical documents. These include daily/weekly project data management reports and project deliverables. • Work closely with Atwell scientists, managers, team leaders, and directors in both natural and cultural resources throughout the company to promote Atwell’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values
- Qualifications
- Qualified candidates will have experience working with natural resources and may have backgrounds/interests in the biological/geological sciences and should have a disposition to chase birds, flip rocks, investigate soils and/or identify plants are welcome to apply. Preferred Experience and qualifications for success • Ability to work long hours in natural, remote areas. • Willingness to travel and work on extended timeline projects away from home. • Experience in natural resource management and/or environmental consulting. • Understanding of ecological processes and functions in Gulf Coast/Southeastern) states. • Previous experience conducting wetland delineations, habitat assessments and/or species-specific surveys (for example: gopher tortoise, bald eagle, red-cockaded woodpecker, Houston toad, eastern black rail, golden-cheeked warbler, lesser prairie-chicken, rare plant surveys). • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Previous experience with field GIS data collection technologies (Trimble, ArcGIS). • Previous experience with wetland delineation collection technologies (BioApp, Wildnote, Ecobot) • Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
