Under general direction, is responsible for the planning, implementation, and promotion of environmental educational programs for the general public. Programming may occur on and off-site in both urban and natural settings. Trains and recruits volunteers in support of educational programming. Exercises no supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Establishes curriculum and develops environmental educational programs.
Develops and implements an effective media campaign including the development of promotional material.
Solicits and trains volunteers and other staff as needed.
Organizes and maintains volunteer support for a wide variety of activities, and maintains tracking system of volunteer activity.
Writes and edits volunteer e-mail newsletter, media announcements, and other articles and publications relating to the educational program.
Organizes resources for monthly educational programs and maintains tracking system of educational activities and participation.
Presents at schools, community centers, urban parks, and other off-site locations.
Develops cooperative programs with other organizations and institutions.
Implements in-house training programs.
Photographs all program presentations and maintains educational displays.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) years of relatable experience.
Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
Experience in interpreting natural resource and cultural history topics to adults and children.
Experience providing educational programs to urban populations.
Familiarity with volunteer recruitment and engagement strategies.
Special event management experience.
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications.
Experience in evaluating programs using performance measures and making adjustments to programs as needed.
Experience collaborating with community groups.
