The Environmental Construction Monitor will coordinate with Project management, construction crews, and other environmental staff. As an Environmental Construction Monitor, they will ensure biological monitoring and overall environmental compliance is upheld in accordance with project rules and regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Monitors construction crews associated with transmission line construction during access roads, installation of structures and conductors for the utility project. - The monitor will also perform SWPPP and SPCC Inspections, tailboards, orientations as needed. - Ensures compliance with wildlife mitigation measures and biological survey requirements. - Ensures overall environmental compliance for the project and all associated support areas. - Identifies/documents potential environmental concerns/non-compliances and reports concerns to Environmental Lead. - Implements project plans, conducts environmental orientations and site-specific tailboards as needed. - Completes and submits daily/weekly biological reports to the Environmental Lead. - Conduct presence/absence surveys associated with MBTA. - Ensures project compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulatory agencies, such as the EPA, BoR, and local issuing authorities. - Ensures the installation of flagging, and signage per project requirements to delineate environmentally sensitive areas. - Utilizes computers, tablets and GPS units to perform data collection and analysis for the project. - Performs tasks with minimal supervision and communicates effectively with project personnel and clients. - Attends meetings as required with field personnel, project management and construction personnel.
Education/Job Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources, wildlife biology, or related discipline required - Experience working on construction/transmission line/utility projects - US citizenship required - Valid driver’s license is required for the operation of company vehicles and travel Physical Demands: - Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs. - Should be able to traverse challenging terrain to perform biological inspections, as required - Able to work in varying environmental conditions such as high temperatures or other outdoor elements, if required - Able to withstand long hours in the field - Able to work flexible hours & travel
