The Environmental Education Program Coordinator is responsible for directing and managing school programs for approximately 80 N.C. schools (public and private) in a residential setting that welcomes approximately 6,000 school children annually. Duties include recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of seasonal staff (up to 12 per season), implementation of curriculum “Coastal Communities” which ties to state education objectives, and “Common Ground” which utilizes our low challenge team building experience. In addition, supervise and train staff on the care and use of our educational animals housed in our Environmental Education Center. This position is part of a year-round team that provides programming at the center in residential summer camp, environmental education and retreats.
Minimum undergraduate degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, marine biology, education or related field. Minimum 3 years experience in working in environmental education and/or outdoor education setting. Prior supervisory experience. Summer Camp experience a plus. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has demonstrated good rapport with children, youth and adults. Strong group building, organization and communication skills needed. Certifications in First Aid, CPR and Wilderness First Aid needed.
