Description
Assists with presenting educational programs to students in grades K-12, both in the classroom and afield. Programs are interactive and hands-on, covering a variety of topics such as waterfowl, manatees, habitat and basic field research techniques. Works with visitor services team to staff visitor center, engaging and assisting visitors, and presenting interpretive programs for the public. Represents the Refuge at outreach events, engaging new audiences. Works closely with the executive director of the Refuge Friends group, assisting with social media, outreach publications and customer service.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion for environmental stewardship, enjoy teaching and posses strong public speaking skills. They will enjoy working with people, especially youth and will be comfortable in a leadership role. They must have experience working as part of a team and be able to adapt to change. A strong biological background will be necessary, and some teaching experience is preferred due to the quick turn around time from application period to assuming responsibilities.
