Description
Talking Talons Youth Leadership (TTYL) is seeking an energetic and organized environmental Educator (Educator) to support our education programming in 2023. This is a temporary, part-time hourly position, with the potential to be extended after the initial contract period. The successful candidate will have a flexible schedule, and will need to be comfortable with inconsistent weekly schedules including some weekend program work. Due to the nature of the grant that funds this position, some weeks and months will have more hours available to work than others. You can expect to work 15 – 25 hours per week. Aside from scheduled programs, hours are flexible and we are happy to work with your schedule. There is an option of an unpaid summer break. For the right person, this position may be extended and further developed, pending funding. The Educator will work closely with the Program Manager and the Executive Director to support an exciting year of programming, with multiple projects at hand. You will have the opportunity to support a Watershed Stewardship field trip program, community events at Carlito Springs Open Space, a summer Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program, and the development of a new long-term climate education and youth leadership program model. As the Educator, you will be encouraged to contribute your skills and ideas as a critical part of a small, supportive, and energetic team.
Qualifications
• At least 2 years of professional work experience in areas such as environmental/outdoor education, youth development, conservation, community organizing, or program coordination. • Passion for teaching youth about environmental topics, watersheds in particular. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). • Eagerness to learn new skills: a self- starter with an excellent work ethic. • Ability to stay organized while managing and prioritizing multiple different projects in a fastpaced, dynamic working environment; attention to detail. • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule with some occasional weekend hours. • Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions. • Valid NM State driver’s license and reliable transportation. • Ability to spend up to a full day standing, hiking or leading others in the outdoors
