Rugged Research is a fun and exciting nature-based education organization founded by Park Rangers in the Rocky Mountains designed to spark curiosity and wonder towards the natural world! We offer summer camps, homeschool programs, early childhood programs, in/out of school field trips, after school programs and more for children ages 2-13. The Rugged Research Environmental Educator will teach our custom curriculum at camps, programs and elementary schools in Denver and Boulder Counties as well as at Parks and Open Spaces along the Northern Front Range. Instructors are asked to promote Ecology, Environmental Science, Outdoor Education, Wildlife Conservation concepts with plenty of time for fun and games! Programs are designed for children ages 7-13, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Rugged Research leadership as well as representing the Rugged Research organization to parents & children with professionalism and care. Role & Responsibilities: Lead groups of up to 10-20 students through curriculum-guided activities Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Rugged Research programs Participate in periodic Rugged Research training & staff meetings, as required Develop engaging educational videos and web content featured on RR websites, social media and YouTube channels Develop elementary school educational activities aligned to CO and NGSS standards Qualifications: Can pass Criminal and Child background checkFirst Aid/CPR must be current Passion for working with children in a classroom or camp environment Teaching, summer camp, or childcare experience is strongly recommended, pursuing a degree in education or sciences will also be considered Comfortable teaching Ecological/ natural science principles Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis Programs: Weekday after-school classes Summer camps (Cherry Creek School District primarily) In-school/out-of-school field trips This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, Instructors typically work between 2-10 hours per week. Position would start in April with a mandatory training day TBD in March Compensation: $20 for open space programs $50/ session for a 1 hour afterschool program Learn more about us at www.RuggedResearch.Org!
