- Description
- This position will serve as Fire Management Specialist for the Wildland Conservation Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for actions on wildlands related to both unintentional wildland fires and prescribed fires on wildland. This position will serve as lead (burn boss) for all prescribed fires on AW Wildlands, including: developing prescribed fire plans for all prescribed fire actions, ensuring that all staff who participate in prescribed burning meet the minimum fire line qualifications, developing and managing mutual support agreements with other agencies for sharing of resources for prescribed fire actions, overseeing personnel responsible for prepping burn units, oversee fire management plans, and contractors implementing shaded fuel breaks.
- Qualifications
- Minimum Certification through National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) as prescribed Fire Burn Boss 3 (RXB3) or higher and/or Certified Prescribed Burn Manager through the Texas Prescribed Burning Board Strong background that includes at least 4 years experience in fire operations that address wildlife biology, range management, forestry, ecological restoration, or similar discipline Ability to travel to multiple worksites and pull a trailer using an Austin Water vehicle.
