- KC Harvey is seeking an early career environmental scientist, environmental engineer, or earth scientist to assist with field assessment, delineation, and reporting of oil and produced water spills in the Permian Basin in West Texas. The position is full-time with some overtime and requires occasionally working on the weekend. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Odessa/Midland, Texas. COVID-19: This position is temporarily remote and requires working from home. After the new hire training period, employee will meet virtually with their supervisor while completing field work independently. KC Harvey will provide a truck, computer, and equipment for remote work. Primary responsibilities include the following: • Visiting active oil field operations including well pads, facilities, and drilling rigs for field inspections and data collection • Collecting and performing field analysis on soil and water samples • Integrating field and lab data to calculate volumes for remediation • Preparing technical reports and recommendations to clients • Knowledge and application of state and federal environmental regulations Employees may also participate in projects involving the following: • Environmental Phase I and due diligence assessments • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) field inspections • Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) field surveys • Other environmental projects involving soil, water, and air monitoring and investigations
- Qualifications
- Requirements for this job: • A Bachelor’s degree in geoscience, environmental science/engineering or related field is required. • A positive attitude and a high standard of safety • Good communication and technical writing skills • Ability to work outdoors for long hours • Experience using GPS for navigation and digital data collection • A clean driving record and experience driving in off-road environments • Participation in pre-employment drug and alcohol screening Additional desired skills for this job: • Experience working on location in the oilfield • Safeland, and OSHA 40 Hr HAZWOPER training • Coursework/fieldwork relating to environmental aspects of soil, water, and air • Experience with ArcGIS field and desktop software and data
