Description
Hamer Environmental L.P., a Washington state based environmental consulting firm, is looking to hire an Environmental Scientist and NEPA specialist. The position will be focused primarily on providing environmental compliance and due diligence services to our clients. The selected individual will work closely with peers to provide unparalleled customer service, conduct all components of Environmental Assessments, participate in NEPA related assessments, and assist in expanding opportunities through business development efforts. The preferred candidate will also be able to successfully manage multiple tasks and personnel, exhibit excellent scientific writing and research skills, and have experience working as an environmental consultant. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: - M.S. degree or higher in environmental planning, science, engineering or a closely related field - Five to ten years of relevant professional experience in writing environmental assessments and or environmental impact statements - Experience with internal scoping, the public scoping process, and public meetings - Experience taking, summarizing, and responding to public comments - Experience developing purpose and need statements and analyzing alternatives for NEPA documents - Assessing impacts to resources from federal and state actions - NEPA- and ESA-related compliance and permitting - Working with federal and state regulatory agencies and the public in the western U.S. - Five years managing medium to large multidisciplinary projects - Federal and state permitting and certification experience with environmental projects, especially in Washington and Oregon - Previous environmental consulting experiences a must. - Experience with state or federal agencies in the Northwest U.S. desired - Knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations - Positive and energetic attitude, able to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, team oriented work environment - Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines - Self-motivated; strong initiative - Resourceful - Willing to travel Duties: • Conduct internal scoping, public scoping processes, and plan and implement public meetings for the NEPA process • Take, summarize, and respond to public comments • Develop purpose and need statements, develop alternatives, and analyze alternatives for NEPA documents • Research information needed for EA’s and EIS’s • Develop Environmental Setting information and associated chapters for NEPA documents • Assess impacts to resources from federal and state actions • Conduct data analysis and interpret results • Prepare detailed technical reports and when possible, submit results to peer reviewed journals • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of subordinate employees • Provide presentations to groups or organizations on project progress • Serve as the primary contact and representative for Hamer Environmental with clients and contract coordinators • Strategize about the development of new business and meet with potential clients Please send a cover letter, resume, and three references to Tom Hamer at Hamer@HamerEnvironmental.com
