Description
EQI seeks qualified applicants to fill Environmental Field Technician and Supervisor openings at their South Florida location. Work is predominately focused on habitat restoration activities including planning and implementing invasive plant species control projects, native plant propagation and installation activities and natural areas management throughout the southeastern United States and the US Virgin Islands. This position requires an individual who desires to work predominately outdoors, interacts well with others and can also work independently. Successful applicants must be able to be adaptive, work well in team environments and enjoy working in remote locations.
Qualifications
•Provide evidence of a high school diploma along with the active pursuit of a college degree in environmental science, biological science, ecology, forestry, natural resources or wildlife management;
•Possess or be able to obtain Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) applicator license in Aquatic and Natural Areas categories;
•Demonstrate knowledge of and experience working in and around hostile terrain, poisonous plants and animals, and biting insects;
•Exhibit ability to withstand long hours of physically challenging work in adverse tropical conditions which include high temperatures, humidity, wind and rain;
•Display valid Florida driver’s license and a clean driving record;
•Express his/her willingness to travel throughout the State of Florida and the US for work, including overnight stays;
• Have a positive attitude;
•Exhibit a basic understanding of mechanical functions and their applications;
•Demonstrate a genuine desire and physical ability to work outdoors approximately 75% of the time;
•Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, with bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities ideal;
•Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and ARC GIS;
•Demonstrate familiarity with invasive plant management protocols;
•Demonstrate knowledge of native plants and wildlife; and
•Participate in daily inspection and maintenance of truck, equipment and safety equipment for himself/herself and project teammates
