Environmental (Marine Fisheries) Technician II- NCDMF Manteo Description of Work This position will serve as a technician on a long line survey for adult red drum in Pamlico Sound, NC. Duties include the construction, maintenance, deployment, and retrieval of long line gear from which captured red drum will be tagged and released. Additional duties are trailering and maintaining outboard boats up to 27 feet in length. The technician is responsible for summarizing, coding, and verifying biological data for computer entry. The employee will also assist with other Division projects as needed. This is a temporary position and overnight travel will be required with per diem provided for meals and lodging.

NOTE: "See Resume" is not acceptable to show work history.]: - Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions - Knowledge of marine species identification and sampling for biological programs - Ability to lift and handle marine species weighing up to 60 pounds - Ability to maintain and operate fisheries sampling equipment - Ability to swim - Must have a valid driver’s license Management Preference: Experience with vessel operation Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Associate's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in environmental or natural resources management work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
