- Description
- The Hummingbird Society, an international 501-C non-profit organization, based in the Verde Valley of Arizona, with an office in the village of Oak Creek in Sedona, is seeking a skilled, personable and creative new Executive Director. This is currently a part-time, 30-hour position that can be expanded to full-time as funding allows. The society was founded to teach about the 368 species of hummingbirds and to prevent the extinction of the 10% of species at risk. The society has ~1000 members dedicated to the conservation of nature and hummingbirds in particular. The job involves researching and implementing how best to help endangered species, and overseeing fund-raising efforts to do that by: receiving and expanding memberships and donations; soliciting corporate sponsorships; taking advantage of grant opportunities; organizing a 3-day hummingbird festival with speakers and vendors, a raffle, hummingbird gardens and banding demonstrations, (July 29-31, 2022); publishing an annual Hummingbirds as Art calendar; implementing creative outreach efforts such as presentations, social media, website content, and an e-newsletter; responding to queries about hummingbirds and the society’s mission; overseeing monthly board meetings; and managing day-to-day financial matters in tandem with our amicable part-time bookkeeper and Quick Books expert.
