Support young people throughout the Commonwealth in out-of-school time programs, join a team of committed corps members passionate about creating social change, and further your education through the opportunity to pursue free coursework at Northeastern University! Fellows are emerging leaders that spend a year of their lives delivering the resources that young people need to be successful in life by providing out-of-school-time opportunities for youth in grades 6-12 focused on college and career exploration and academic enrichment. During a year of AmeriCorps service, Fellows serve full-time for eleven months with non-profit organizations, schools, and state and local agencies throughout the Commonwealth. Fellows engage in monthly team building and training activities as a cohort. Trainings are focused on youth development, social justice and identity, and supporting youth in out-of-school time settings. Since 1999, over 400 Fellows have mobilized community activity in a variety of ways, including: • Designing and leading out-of-school time programs focused on academic enrichment • Delivering college and career exploration curricula for young people • Creating meaningful relationships with youth • Recruiting and managing volunteers How to apply: Fellows are hired on a rolling basis each May-June. Qualifications
Qualifications: • Experience working with young people • Excellent organizational and communication skills • The ability to work independently and as part of a team • Passionate about social justice and working with diverse communities • An interest in and commitment to national and community service • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills • Professional and mature • 17 years of age or older • Must be a US Citizen, US National or Permanent Resident Alien • Must be willing to comply with a criminal background check and FBI fingerprint check
