Midwest Natural Resources (MNR) is a natural resources consulting company that primarily provides ecological field services. We serve a wide variety of clients including federal, state, and local agencies, private-sector energy and transportation industries, as well as non-profit organizations. We work throughout the Upper Midwest and in a wide diversity of ecosystems from intact prairie remnants, to expansive wetland complexes, to the great Northwoods. Our team comprises highly skilled wetland and wildlife biologists, botanists, ecologists, and land management specialists.
MNR is seeking applicants for a field biologist position with a plant ecology focus. We desire highly motivated individuals with good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team setting. This position requires long work hours (Monday-Saturday) and travel outside the Twin Cities metro region for extended periods of time, with all expenses paid by the company.
Employee duties will include biological/ecological field surveys, including wetland delineations, vegetation monitoring, and T&E species surveys and habitat assessments. Our ideal candidate is a well-rounded biologist with the flexibility to conduct a wide range of natural resource field work. Recent college graduates will be considered for seasonal (hourly) positions with the potential to become full-time at the end of the season.
-Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Biology, Ecology, Botany, Wildlife, Conservation, etc.)
-At least 2 years of field experience collecting biological data
-Ability to identify regional flora/fauna in a field setting
-Experience following detailed survey protocols
-Valid driver’s license and good driving record
-Ability to hike long distances daily in extreme weather conditions and rough terrain
-Ability to travel, staying in hotels for extended periods of time
-Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
-Advanced degree in a relevant field (Biology, Ecology, Botany, etc.)
-Coursework in plant taxonomy, botany, and ecology
-Basic knowledge of wetland delineation and classification procedures
-Working knowledge of ESRI software such as ArcMap, ArcPro, and Field Maps
