Feral Flora is seeking a seasonal employee for the 2021-2022 season. This position will begin in October, 4 days/week. November 2021 through March 2022 will average 1-2 days per week and scheduling is flexible. The rest of the 2022 season will consist of four-day weeks (averaging 35 hrs/wk) from April 1st through October; with the exception of May where 5 days/week will be required. Initial start date is also flexible.
General Responsibilities: planting a variety of material, mulching, weeding, hardscape installation, digging rain gardens (90%), as well as nursery work including watering, transplanting, and general care of native plants (10%).
Educational Benefits: hands-on experience with native plant propagation, identification, installation and general care; maintenance of native landscapes and exotic plant control; rainwater management, rain garden and bioswale design and installation.
Ability to work outdoors under various weather conditions
Ability to lift objects up to 60 lbs.
Strong interest in plants and willingness to learn more about them
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
Great Lakes Region plant identification
Interest in ecology and native habitats
Experience in landscaping, natural areas stewardship, or related field
