- Description
- The field teacher - Fishing position will take a lead in teaching the fishing programs. This staff should have some general knowledge of fishing equipment, proper use and care, knowledge of types of fish. Should have or be willing to purchase a Maine Fishing License. Field Teachers lead groups of campers with 6 to 12 participants ages 7 to 17, for week-long programs. This role requires a high level of enthusiasm for working with children of various ages with a strong dedication to safety and fun. We offer a wide array of outdoor focused programs based on conservation education, wilderness survival skills, naturalist, and adventure. Each week, we offer 4 different programs, providing a diverse and changing schedule. Some Field Teacher duties include: ● Lead program for various ages, Sunday through Friday ● Plan lessons, lead activities, mentor campers, and provide opportunities for campers to learn and explore the outdoors through high-quality experiences. ● Supervise campers and ensure safety and risk management policies are followed. ● Attend staff meetings and debriefs as scheduled. ● Provide basic first aid as needed ● Some staff will also be lifeguards, shooting sports instructors, trip leaders, or other leadership roles as warranted, and agreed upon, based on training. ● Supervise campers in cabins during evening and overnight hours.
- Qualifications
- Qualifications: ● Minimum of 18 years of age ● Previous camp experience or working with youth preferred ● Must have a desire to work with various age groups ● Must be a positive role model ● Good communication skills ● Interest or background in the outdoors: hiking, nature, hunting, fishing, canoeing, etc. ● Willing to live and work in a community setting with changing program needs and focuses. ● Attend a week-long staff training at Bryant Pond prior to the start of camp.
