We are looking for a highly motivated, multi-tasking individual who can serve the agency by providing field operations to the public on a daily basis for the North East Region.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Large and small scale project planning and implementation, long-term forest management plans on Wildlife Management Areas (WMA).
•Work to maintain a balance of silviculture and wildlife values to Wildlife Management Areas within the North East Region.
•Work cooperatively with biologist, consultants, federal agencies and the public.
•Some Weekend/overnight travels required.
•Experience with forest management practices is preferred, marking, delineation, creating or writing forest plans, logging or timber operations, timber/forest related computer programs.
•Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and in person communication and utilize computers for day to day operations.
•Agency RX fire training required to be completed.
•Preferred certified American Society of Forester.
•Pesticide applicators license required to be obtained.
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in forestry.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of professional experience in forestry and/or wildlife forestry.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in forestry will substitute for one year of the required experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Spends majority of time outdoors.
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.
