- Are you interested in monitoring the recreational steelhead fishery in streams along the Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties' coasts? This recreation fisheries work is part of the statewide Steelhead Report and Restoration Card (SRRC) program that was established to inform the California Department of Fish and Wildlife scientists regarding fisheries management and regulatory decisions. This position has the primary responsibility of assisting the Environmental Scientist in conducting recreational steelhead angling assessments (e.g. creel surveys and using angler survey boxes) in coastal streams within Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties. In addition to data collection, this position assists an Environmental Scientist in data entry, data analysis, and report writing, and updating monitoring protocols as needed.
- Qualifications
- Possession of a valid driver license. and Either I Education: Equivalent to completion of two years of college with a minimum of 10 semester hours in biological or chemistry sciences. Or II One year of experience in surveying, studying or evaluating fish or wildlife populations, data habitats or users, or working in a chemistry laboratory.
