The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is currently recruiting for the position of Fish Hatchery Assistant Manager. This announcement will be used to fill the current opening at the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery and may also be used to fill future openings statewide.

•Serves as an assistant manager of a fish hatchery or oversees operations of a fish hatchery satellite facility.
•Spawns fish and monitors development of eggs and fry.
•Implements feeding schedules.
•Cleans rearing tanks and raceways.
•Administers chemical treatments for disease.
•Distributes, transports and stocks fish.
•Performs minor repairs and maintains various buildings and mechanical equipment.
•Conducts hatchery tours and answers questions.
Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)
•At least two years of experience as a Fish Culturist OR an equivalent level of comparable experience that demonstrates good knowledge of fish culture, including: spawning and stocking methods; assessment of water quality and flows related to hatchery operation; appropriate rearing parameters and feed regimens for various species; biosecurity and prophylactic measures to ensure fish health; and experience performing minor repair and maintenance on buildings and mechanical equipment and operating fish transport-type equipment.
•Valid driver's license.
Minimum Qualification Specialty Area: (The qualification below is required for some Fish Hatchery Assistant Manager positions throughout the state.)
•Some Fish Hatchery Assistant Manager positions throughout the state require an incumbent to possess a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be willing to obtain one within the six-month probationary period (see supplemental question #12). For those positions requiring a CDL, incumbents must pass a pre-employment controlled substance screening test. Once a CDL is obtained, the employee is required to participate in the Department's drug/alcohol testing program and comply with all of its provisions through their duration of employment with the agency. The current opening at the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery does not require a CDL.
Desirable Qualifications: (The qualifications are not required.)
•Technical report writing.
•Some supervisory training/experience.
•Development of computer spreadsheets reflecting technical information regarding fish hatchery operations.
