The Fish Health Specialist will be responsible for conducting fish health inspections at NMDGF hatchery facilities and wild fish stocks. The position will serve to provide recommendations regarding importation of eggs and fish, investigate fish kills, assist in diagnosis and treatment of disease outbreaks, and coordinate a Quality Health Assessment at Department hatcheries. Additional duties may include work in the areas of fish genetics, statistical analysis, GIS, database management, and aquatic toxicology. The Fish Health Specialist will assist with other NMDGF activities to further recreational fisheries, native fish conservation and aquatic invasive species prevention.
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in biology, fisheries science/management, wildlife science/management, animal science, forestry, ecology or similar related natural resource degree and two (2) years of experience in the specified fields
