Cramer Fish Sciences (CFS) is a fisheries research consulting firm serving throughout the Pacific States and Idaho. We are a growing, employee-owned company whose mission is to rigorously apply the scientific method to afford our clients innovative, scientifically robust solutions to address a variety of fisheries and environmental challenges. The CFS team achieves this through effective and unbiased data collection, insightful analysis and interpretation, and clear communications.
Our goal is to expand these tools for use in low-impact monitoring of aquatic environments to inform resource managers, including the design and monitoring success of habitat restoration programs. Vision Object Detection Systems that can identify the presence and location of a desired object or body within an image, as well as enumeration, measurement and detection and description of associated features of the object(s). Computer Vision involves working with digital images and videos to deduce some understanding of contents within these images and videos.
Our growing team is particularly interested in these two research areas:
Object Recognition, Detection, and Delineation: the process of determining whether an object exists withing an image, and if so, locating its location and extent. This has wide ranging applications from identification of microscopic zooplankton, all the way to classifying satellite imagery (GEOBIA) to locate habitat features (e.g., wetlands, roads, landslides).
Tracking and Enumeration: Methods for identifying, detecting, and following objects of interest within a sequence of images over some time. Applications of tracking within systems are found in many surveillance cameras and traffic monitoring devices.
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, statistics, computer sciences or biology.
R Language, MATLAB, Python or other programming experience preferred.
Previous experience with image classification (ML or otherwise)
Additional Skills Interests:
Adaptable and capable of working and communicating in a team environment.
Interest in Research and Development to support the growth and success of our program.
Interest in fisheries and aquatic sciences including species identification and habitat measurements from images and video.
Interest/Experience in Machine Learning and deep learning (Natural Language Processing and/or Computer Vision).
Familiarity with Linux environment.
Familiarity with Cloud based processing and infrastructures is a plus (E.g., AWS, GCE, Azure).
Familiarity with deployed / edge computing a plus.
Excited about code craftsmanship, to build robust code with the best practices.
