- Location: Multiple Locations - Work sites will vary between the Asotin Creek watershed in southeastern Washington and the Bridge Creek watershed in central Oregon Start Date: Beginning of June, training may take place prior to June Duration: The field season is active from June through the end of October. We encourage anyone with any availability within this window to apply, however, priority will be given to candidates with greater availability. Number of Positions: 4 to 6 - We are currently seeking team members for our habitat and monitoring crews! Fisheries and habitat technicians will be working in teams of 5-8 people. Primary Responsibilities: The primary job duties are to assist in fish capture using electrofishing, tagging using passive integrated transponder (PIT) tags, stream habitat surveys, maintenance and management of temperature and discharge monitoring sites, and various restoration projects. These efforts are to support the Asotin Creek Intensively Monitored Watershed project and the Bridge Creek Intensively Monitored Watershed project. https://www.researchgate.net/project/Asotin-Creek-Intensively-Monitored-Watershed-Experiment Position Description: Technicians may be employed by either Eco Logical Research, Inc. or Anabranch Solutions, LLC - dependent on projects. Employees will live with the Habitat and Monitoring crews on-site at company bunkhouses in Asotin, WA and Mitchell, OR. Work schedules are typically eight 10-hour shifts followed by 6 days off, however other schedules may be required at points (ex: 4 days on, 3 days off). All necessary safety gear, waders, and wading boots will be provided. Additionally, per diem is afforded to the group for family-style grocery shopping and meal preparation. https://www.eco-logical-research.com https://www.anabranchsolutions.com Minimum qualifications: Ability and willingness to learn in the field and in trainings Ability to work safely in remote and adverse conditions Flexibility Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly and regularly Positive attitude, willingness to follow instructions Self-motivated with situational awareness to take care of anything that needs doing Comfort with manual labor and/or physical fitness Must be able to safely lift and carry 55 pounds; packing heavy loads of equipment in to and out of sites is often required A valid driver’s license Eligibility to work in the United States Desired qualifications/experience (any of the following): Background in fish biology or watershed science In-stream fish surveys Electrofishing Monitoring fish habitat Fluvial geomorphology Working with GIS The basics of land surveying (e.g., using a total station) Stream restoration Working in the outdoors collecting and managing a wide variety of data Wilderness first-aid Important Dates: Applications will be reviewed beginning in January.
