Job Introduction: The Sawtooth Fish Hatchery is seeking two (2) Fisheries Biological Aides (non-benefited) to assist with trapping, spawning, and rearing of steelhead trout and rearing of Chinook salmon in Stanley, Idaho. Dates Needed: March 14, 2022 through May 27, 2022. General Information: With or without reasonable accommodations, incumbents must be able to stand and work in cold water for up to five hours per shift; lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 pounds; and work in extreme weather conditions. Dormitory style housing is provided free of charge. Incumbents will work 40 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend work rotations will be required. Responsibilities: Assist in the trapping and spawning of steelhead trout and rearing of Chinook salmon; perform routine fish culture duties, including feeding fish, weighing out fish feed, cleaning and caring for fish rearing vessels; maintain grounds and equipment; clean office and hatchery facilities; interact with the public in a professional and positive manner.
Qualifications: Applicants must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Fisheries related experience and education strongly preferred, but not required. Must be 18 years of age, and have a valid driver’s license.
