The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is seeking to fill a full-time, permanent Fisheries Biologist 2 position with the Division of Habitat Management's Fish Passage & Special Projects Section. The Fisheries Biologist 2 is a professional position requiring a dedicated, hard-working individual with a passion for fisheries management.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the planning and coordination of activities related to the removal of blockages to fish migration and associated stream habitat restoration. This includes the administration and oversight of fish passage and habitat restoration projects through the Statewide Habitat Improvement and Fisheries Management Grant program, as well as involvement with other large-scale habitat improvement projects. The selected candidate will work with minimal supervision, establishing program priorities, initiating and scheduling own work and will use considerable independent judgment. Major tasks include project coordination and partnerships development, acquisition and administration of grant funding support, solicitation of contracted services, contract development and management, budget preparation and management, and associated administrative activities required to implement fish passage and dam removal projects throughout the Commonwealth. The incumbent will also provide technical support to assist the Division Chief and staff in managing habitat restoration activities and projects.
