Description
The Yakama Nation-sponsored Monitoring and Evaluation Project is recruiting for a Fisheries Biologist II position. The position is responsible for development and implementation of salmon and steelhead population, habitat, and hatchery monitoring and evaluation activities in the Klickitat River sub-basin. Duties include: fieldwork related to fish population monitoring and habitat surveys, field crew oversight and supervision, fish tagging and marking, operation and maintenance of adult and juvenile fish traps, data management and analysis, and report preparation. The position will be part of a team working on the Klickitat Monitoring and Evaluation Project, which implements basin wide monitoring, evaluation, and research of multiple salmonid species and aquatic habitat in the Klickitat River sub-basin using a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach. As a group, we are deeply committed to monitoring and protection of salmonid species, aquatic habitat, and watershed processes. Activities are highly varied, ranging from field work in remote, beautiful landscapes – rafting, wading streams, surveying, habitat mapping – to utilizing data analysis tools in the office – to disseminating data and publishing technical reports and peer reviewed papers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science or related field and five years of fisheries/watershed experience.
