Who we are: We are a family owned and operated wildlife & fisheries consulting agency based in the greater Houston area. Our team of experts and scientists are involved in numerous projects, from lake and pond management, to ranch development and whitetail deer breeding throughout all of Texas and across the southeastern United States. We currently have full time positions open for both a fisheries biologist and a fisheries technician to join our dynamic team and assist with the duties pertaining to the fisheries portion of the company. Description: The successful candidate for this position will assist in the following duties: Electrofishing Surveys Writeups of lake & pond management bids and reports Fish stocking and transport Lake and pond design Water quality management and analysis Aquatic invasive species/aquatic vegetation control Installation of aeration systems and fountains Installation of artificial fish habitat and fish feeders Aquaculture Data entry/recordkeeping Basic field equipment maintenance Benefits: In addition to salary, Blessed Bayou offers coverage of any necessary lodging and meals while on the job and health insurance Interested applicants please send resume and cover letter to: Holly Vesely Additional materials, such as a writing sample or academic transcripts are encouraged, but not required
Qualifications: Required: • Coursework in fisheries, environmental sciences, or a natural resources related field. • US citizenship or proof of eligibility to work in the United States • Valid driver’s license • Basic understanding of tools and repair • Ability to Drive a truck and trailer • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor outdoors • Desire to learn and willingness to work around fish and aquatic environments • Strong work ethic and positive attitude • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Excel, Word) Preferred: • B.S. or higher degree in fisheries, environmental sciences, or a natural resources related field. • Experience operating an electrofishing boat • Experience creating fisheries management plans from data collected from electrofishing surveys • Experience with aquatic plant and animal identification • Experience controlling invasive aquatic vegetation • Experience working with aquatic organisms in a scientific setting • Understanding of water chemistry and properties • Ability to acquire a Commercial Driver’s License and a Texas Commercial Pesticide Applicator License • Experience with driving outboard motor boats
