- Job Description The primary duties of this position are to assist Avista biologists with the monitoring and evaluation of a new fish passage facility recently constructed below Cabinet Gorge Dam in Idaho. The biologist will assist with the summarization and analysis of technical fisheries data and may assist with drafting technical reports using Microsoft Word and Excel software and potentially Microsoft Access and R. Secondarily, the person in this position will assist with other projects and fieldwork duties including assisting with operation of tributary traps, night electrofishing, stream electrofishing and other duties as assigned. Benefits will be included. Housing negotiable. Requirements A Bachelor’s of Science degree in fisheries or related field is required. A Master’s of Science degree in fisheries or related field along with some experience in natural resources field related activities is strongly preferred. The successful applicant must be self-motivated, able to work independently at times, and have good attention to detail. This position requires a strong working knowledge of data analysis and technical writing. In addition, the applicant must have the ability to work with minimal supervision, keep accurate records, adapt to varying work schedules, perform moderate to strenuous physical labor, and work outside in a variety of weather conditions. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Other combinations of education/experience may be considered.
