- The Marine Advisory Program (MAP) at William & Mary's Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) is seeking a candidate to join our team to assist with several multi-year at-sea surveys aiming to evaluate offshore wind development's impacts on fisheries resources in Virginia. Specific duties will include laboratory and field logistics for fisheries surveys, at-sea sample collection for various species, sample processing, data collection and analysis, and preparing reports and presentations. - Qualifications
- Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in a discipline relevant to the duties and responsibilities of this position, such as fisheries, biology, ecology, natural resource management, or the equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position. Valid driver's license. The individual should have knowledge of recreational and commercial fisheries in the Mid-Atlantic, working knowledge of laboratory and vessel safety, the ability to analyze data and produce reports, and be comfortable working aboard marine vessels overnight and for multiple days in all weather conditions. Preferred: Master's degree in a discipline relevant to the duties and responsibilities of this position, such as fisheries, biology, ecology, or a closely related field. General understanding of offshore wind development, knowledge of video analysis, technical writing skills and experience with presentation and/or publication, knowledge of mapping software (i.e., ArcGIS), good computer skills including Microsoft office software, and experience participating in fishery-independent resource assessment surveys.
