- Description
- Will work directly with MDC Sport Fish Ecologists and Fisheries Management Biologists to complete research and management work related to various sport fish projects. The main responsibility is to assist with the collection of sport fish related data to inform management and research decisions. This position will assist the Sportfish Ecologist with various projects that include (but are not limited to): Striped Bass evaluations, fish habitat research, Rainbow and Brown Trout evaluations, electrofishing, and various other fisheries related assessments. Specific duties will include collecting data from lakes/rivers, database management, light marine maintenance, and coordinating with other field staff. The successful applicant will also be provided the opportunity to work on other natural resources priorities as available. Other tasks may include data entry, electrofishing, and literature review. - QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, Bachelor’s degree in aquatics related field preferred Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher on 4.0 scale is desirable. SPECIAL ABLILTY REQUIREMENTS: Ability to: Develop and sustain cooperative working relationships. Work outside in adverse weather conditions and perform tasks requiring strenuous physical activity. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Obtain a current, valid driver license by the date of employment. Work Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when needed. Keep an accurate record of supplies, services and time reports. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Smoking is prohibited in all owned, rented or leased Department of Conservation offices, buildings, and similar facilities, in Department aircraft, and in vehicles. The Department of Conservation will hire only United States citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete an "Employment Eligibility Verification" (Form I-9) and produce requested documentation after employment. Candidates must submit to a drug screen following offer of employment. All persons employed with the state of Missouri shall file all state income tax forms and pay all state income taxes owed.
