Successful candidates will collect data for the NMFS Miami Pelagic Observer Program (POP) for an Alternative Fishing Gear Study. Observers will deploy from fishing ports along the northern Gulf of Mexico coastal areas. Candidates do not need to reside near the POP office in Miami, FL, but must be located along the southeastern coastal areas of the U.S. and be available to travel to assigned fishing ports. Reliable transportation and a current driver’s license are required.
Experience/knowledge with commercial fisheries practices or previous Fisheries Observer experience.
