We operate two all-inclusive fly fishing camps on the Alaska Peninsula, literally in the middle of nowhere. Small groups of adventuring fishermen join us for week long trips of a lifetime. We need a fly fishing guide at our main operation, Alaska Wilderness SAFARI.
As a Fly Fishing Guide, you will guide groups of 2 to 3 anglers daily in rivers and river-like settings predominantly use fly fishing techniques, occasionally lead groups of 2 to 4 on day hikes, and help out with other operational duties and chores such as dishwashing and housekeeping.
If you’re not quite qualified to work as a fly fishing guide, we will also consider hiring a camp helper/apprentice guide instead.
The 2021 season at our SAFARI camp runs from approximately 8/2 to 9/25, maybe 10/2. Candidate must be available to work the entire duration.
We provide room and board AND will cover half of your round-trip airfare to/from King Salmon, AK.
If you think you have what it takes to work in a rugged, remote and unforgiving environment that will challenge you both physically and mentally, please contact us about this position.
Everybody thinks they want to work in Alaska, but the work is not for everybody. Our work is perpetual and strenuous and is anything but your “great Alaskan vacation.” We need professional, hard-working, team-oriented people with a passion for fishing, the outdoors and hospitality. Egos, drug use and alcohol abuse are absolutely not tolerated.
Fly (and conventional) fishing skills are required, but candidate must also possess wilderness, outdoor and camping skills, be in good physical shape and must have good working knowledge of firearms. 1 to 2 years fishing, hunting or outdoor guiding experience is ideal, but not required. Candidate must have a CPR and 1st Aid certification valid through 10/1/21, plus a 2021 Alaska sportfishing guide license. We will help with obtaining the guide license. A background check is also required.
Please contact us with any questions. Email resume and cover letter showing related experience.
