The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) NCS Science team is expanding our capacity to conduct rigorous scientific investigations of the impacts of land management on the carbon cycle, biodiversity, natural resource production, and human wellbeing. The Forest Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) Analyst provides technical and scientific support for a large, interconnected NCS research program. The Forest NCS Analyst will work within a highly collaborative, driven, multidimensional scientific team at the forefront of NCS Science. They will be involved in all aspects of our research and will have the opportunity to lead projects and publish results as lead author. The Forest NCS Analyst will be supervised by the Global Director of Climate Science and will work at the direction of the NCS Forester.
This position is funded for two and a half years. An extension may be possible based on needs and funding availability.
Master's Degree in natural resources or geospatial science related field and at least 1 year of experience in a professional, scientific setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in forestry, reforestation, agroforestry, and/or other forest-related land uses.
• Experience in all aspects of the scientific process:
o Collecting, manipulating, analyzing and interpreting scientific data.
o Reading, analyzing, and synthesizing scientific literature.
o Preparing reports of findings for stakeholders with varying degrees of scientific education.
• Experience using GIS, e.g. ArcGIS or QGIS, to complete advanced geospatial analyses.
• Experience using code driven analytical tools, e.g. R or Python, to manipulate and analyze tabular data.
• Proven written and verbal communications skills.
