The position will assist the Director, Operations Forester, Technicians and visiting researchers to complete a wide variety of forest management and research projects at the Forestry Innovation Center outside of Escanaba MI. The successful candidate will perform routine cultural operations, data collection , operate heavy machinery and maintain forestry lands and facilities, as well as assist during forestry outreach and research events.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in forestry, natural resources or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in forestry /natural resources or related field; such as knowledge of routine forestry research procedures, word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to travel is necessary. Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required. The job may require the appropriate pesticide applicator's registration/certification, and/or CDL, UAV licensing.
