The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation is seeking a Washington County Forester to join our Private Lands Program team. This position partners with landowners, consulting foresters, and a variety of other natural resource professionals to promote sustainable forest management in Vermont. You will administer Vermont's Use Value Appraisal Program (UVA) primarily for Washington County while also assisting colleagues with their work in other counties. This includes forest management plan reviews; onsite inspections; collaboration with the Vermont Department of Taxes; database management; among other duties related to the program. Outreach and education regarding sustainable natural resource management for landowners, schools, and community groups are an important component of this position, as is working with a team of other natural resource managers with the Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation.
Bachelor's degree in forestry or a natural resource field AND two (2) years or more of experience at a professional level in forestry or a natural resources field.
Master's degree in forestry or a natural resource field.
One (1) year or more as Forester I with the State of Vermont.
Must be able to be licensed as a Forester in Vermont within 6 months of hire
