Green Diamond has a sensational career opportunity for you to join our company as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF). This job is located on the coast of Northern California (Humboldt and Del Norte counties) where the redwood forest meets the ocean. Here Green Diamond owns roughly 380,000 acres of sustainably managed FSC certified redwood and Douglas-fir timberlands. Responsibilities: The RPF is responsible for all stages of Timber Harvest Plan (THP) preparation from the initial harvest unit and road assessment through field work, THP preparation and approval. This includes compliance with all State regulations and Green Diamond standards and guidelines in all stages of the process. The RPF ensures that all harvest units and logging roads are properly engineered, that the work is correctly flagged and marked in the field and that the THPs accurately document that work. The RPF works closely with the logging and roads supervisors to provide professional advice during operations. Must have good communication skills as this position interacts with internal departments as well as outside agencies, contractors and the public during the process.
•Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or closely related field, or equivalent work experience. •Valid California Registered Professional Forester license or someone meeting the qualifications to take the RPF exam with a strong working knowledge of forest engineering and the CA Forest Practice Rules. •Experience with CA Forest Practice Rules (FPR) based THP layout, engineering, and preparation, including at least three years (or equivalent) experience in a broad range of forestry operations. •Skills necessary for the design and layout of new forest management standard roads. •Valid CA driver’s license. •Must be able to successfully pass a qualifying course in ATV training. •Must be able to successfully complete the FPR required archaeological surveyor training program. •Ability to work unsupervised. •Be highly motivated and self-directed. •Proven strong leadership skills.
