The Forestry Technician Administrative Support position at Fort Polk will support the installation foresters to schedule, organize, and generally help plan out efforts for the Forestry program, in support of forest prescriptions and management actions. A working understanding of the Forestry Program is important to properly support the program. Prior experience working on a military installation and/or with a forestry team on a military installation would be of great benefit for this position.
Individual tasks for this position may include, but are not limited to: working directly with the Forestry Chief and the Fort Polk forestry team, organizing work schedules, scheduling meetings, planning forestry efforts with the Fort Polk forestry team, communicating with other programs within the Fort Polk Conservation Branch, communicating with the Fort Polk Commander’s office, help to enforce forestry policies and procedures, attending meetings, tracking Federal and CSU assets, fleet management, organizing and supporting outreach events, tracking forestry permits, development of briefing presentations, prepare supply orders and procurement actions, coordinating with the pest management office, and general office tasks (printing, shipping, organizing, etc).
This position is primarily office based but may require the occasional field effort to support the forestry program. Any field effort will require travelling by truck, walking short or long distances, working in challenging field conditions, carrying equipment (light and heavy loads), and working directly with the foresters.
The ideal candidate will have significant administrative experience, a college degree, be familiar with working on Fort Polk or military installations, be familiar with the Fort Polk forestry program or other forestry programs, and have at least 10 years of administrative support experience.

Required Job Qualifications
