- Fuels Specialist 2, NRS2 Recruitment #2023-9-A223 Full-time, Permanent, Represented position Location: Southeast Region- Central Washington (Chelan, Kittitas or Yakima Counties) Relocation Compensation may be available and considered Salary: $4,174.00 - $5,615.00 Monthly Want to join something GREAT and make a difference? The Fuels Specialist position provides professional-level prescribed fire/forestry expertise on DNR uplands to 1) sustain long-term ecosystem and economic viability; and 2) ensure long-term access to the forest lands and the benefits derived from them. This position is part of a team that helps the Southeast region achieve the Policy for Sustainable Forests mission through strong leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and excellent planning. The individual who fills this role will be exposed to a wide variety of work and interactions with Department staff, cooperators, private landowners and the public regarding the mission and work of the Department. - Qualifications
- Required Qualifications: --At a minimum must be certified as a Firefighter 2 (FFT2) per the NWCG Standards for Wildland Fire Position Qualifications (PMS 310-1). --Experience with forest mensuration and survey tools such as GPS, laser measurement devices, compass, clinometer, and other forestry equipment. --Associates Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Earth Sciences OR 2 years of equivalent experience working in a forested environment. --Competent in the use of ArcGIS, standard Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) programs and mobile devices. --Excellent written and verbal communication.
