The successful candidates will apply cutting-edge spatial models to advance understanding of habitat, connectivity, and occupancy for various species (e.g., Humboldt marten, fisher, etc.) across multiple scales. The positions will begin Fall 2023 semester. Strong preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in computer programming (e.g., R, python) and geospatial software (e.g., ArcGIS, R). Applicants should submit the following materials to Dr. Ho Yi Wan (hw83@humboldt.edu): (1) a CV, (2) a personal statement, (3) contact info of 3 references, (4) up to three recommendation letters, and (5) transcripts (unofficial is okay). Positions are for immediate consideration, and applications will be accepted until filled. Cal Poly Humboldt is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and the Department of Wildlife is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment that recruits, welcomes, and trains the diverse next generation of wildlife biologists. Funded position includes salary and field season expenses, with the option to fund tuition through teaching assistant positions and/or need-based financial aid for California residents. Students from most Western States can qualify for in-state tuition through the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP). If you are not a California resident or a member of one of the participating Western States, please contact Dr. Wan as soon as possible to discuss the potential for an out of state tuition waiver.
