Description
Description: The Great Basin Institute, in cooperation with the National Park Service, is recruiting a GIS Analyst to maintain Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks’ (SEKI) cultural resources geodatabases and support the use of GIS to collect field data through mobile applications. In addition, the analyst will maintain the parks’ giant sequoia tree inventory within the parks’ enterprise GIS. The analyst will use the GIS to analyze these resources to provide maps for park project planning and compliance. Project-specific activities: • Utilize GIS software to maintain data that meets National Park Service GIS data standards. • Create and manage field data collection applications • Utilize the data and GIS software to analyze the potential impacts of park projects • Create maps that visualize the analysis and data This work will provide the State of California’s Historic Preservation office with maps and data that describe potential project impacts to cultural resources thus preserving the information for the public and tribal groups. Contract Timeline: • 52-week appointment starting in May 2023 • Full time (40 hours per week) Location: Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs, 47050 Generals Hwy., Three Rivers, CA. Qualifications
• Advanced degree in applicable discipline, and multiple consecutive years of experience with GIS technologies and products including the current suite of ESRI ArcGIS software, extensions, and ArcGIS Online; • Ability to develop and analyze spatial information with GIS and the design principles of geodatabases; • Familiarity with the mission, goals and operations of the National Park Service; • Ability to document project and data, and ensure data and documentation are stored in appropriate locations; and • Ability to produce data collection and analysis tools that meet park decision-making needs and withstand external review; and • Willingness and ability to consistently enact high performance standards and a strong work and team ethic in support of the mission of GBI and the goals and objectives of the NPS.
