- Description
- We are seeking a highly-motivated, self-sufficient M.S. student to investigate multiple questions regarding northern bobwhite ecology and management at the Jones Center at Ichauway in Newton, Georgia (https://www.jonesctr.org). This project will involve using radio telemetry to monitor bobwhite behavior and investigate resource selection and seasonal survival. The student will work closely with land managers, biologist and researchers at The Jones Center at Ichauway, Mississippi State University, and the Albany Quail Project.
- Qualifications
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university by the start date, a valid driver’s license, and be able to work under field conditions that include hot temperatures, high humidity, and abundant insects. The most competitive applicants will have multiple years of field experience including previous work capturing gamebirds and using radio telemetry. Candidates must have the capacity to learn quantitative techniques such as survival analysis and movement models, and become proficient in GIS and R. The ability to hire and lead a crew of interns is essential.
