Description
I am excited to advertise for our third year of the Five Oaks Graduate Certificate Program through the University of Arkansas - Monticello. We are recruiting excellent students interested in careers as waterfowl and wetland managers in governmental agencies, conservation organizations, and private lands. Selected students will spend the majority of their time learning and working on Five Oaks properties, hands on private and public land managers. The program offers excellent opportunities to travel and network with resource professionals in the Mississippi Alluvial Valley and nationwide. Our program was established to develop students' connection between the ecological basis that many undergraduate programs provide and on the ground management skills required for a successful career as waterfowl and wetland managers. We are proud of the continuing development of this program and the quality of students we have worked with so far! The Certificate Program involves 2 semesters, 18 credit hours, and a $20,000 scholarship. A subset of applicants will be invited to the Five Oaks Duck Lodge in Humphrey, Arkansas for a 3-day recruitment event in March. We will then select 4 students for the 2023-2024 academic year with a mid-August 2022 start date.
Qualifications
Ideal applicants have achieved a bachelor's degree and are passionate about waterfowl and wetland management, self-motivated, hard-working, and have demonstrated academic and professional success. For those interested, please send a resume with references, copy of transcripts, and a cover letter explaining your interest in the program, experiences, and career aspirations to FiveOaksGraduate@gmail.com, as well as any questions. Applications will be accepted through January 31st.
