- Description
- The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), under the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) and Wetland Reserve Easement (WRE) Program, has been providing financial and technical assistance to conserve agricultural lands and wetlands, and to restore, protect and enhance enrolled wetlands. The Aquaculture/Fisheries Center at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is carrying out a research project focusing on the “Development of an Ecological Monitoring and Assessment Framework for the ACEP-WRE Program.” UAPB will recruit two Ph.D. students as graduate research assistants to implement the project. The students will conduct their dissertations related to the project goal. Research findings will be used to recommend an implementable and cost-effective ecological monitoring framework for the NRCS wetlands.
- Qualifications
- An M.S. degree in wetland science, fisheries/aquaculture, wildlife, natural resources, ecology, environmental science, agricultural economics, applied economics, econometrics, marketing, agribusiness or a related field, minimum GPA of 3.0, and GRE of 297 (verbal + quantitative) are required. Minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 79 or IELTS score of 6.5 (for international students). A strong interest in wetlands, economics and marketing, familiarity with modeling, GIS, and econometric software packages (such as R, SAS, STATA, ArcGIS, etc.), strong writing skills, excellent work ethic, and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a productive member of a research team is required. Demonstrated experience with the management of large databases is desirable.
