Description
University of South Alabama/Dauphin Island Sea Lab: graduate student position in coastal/estuarine processes A graduate student position (PhD preferred) is available to work with Dr. Brian Dzwonkowski. I am looking for a student with broad interests in coastal physical oceanography and air-sea interaction. The position is associated with a project that will involve using satellite-data, oceanic and atmospheric reanalysis products and in situ observations of opportunity across the global coastal ocean to develop an enhanced understanding of compounding air-sea interactions that lead to marine heatwaves and their relationships with tropical cyclones The availability of the position will depend on the strength of the application. More information about my research is available at : https://www.disl.org/about/faculty/bdzwonkowski Applicants should have a degree in marine science, mathematics, physics, meteorology, engineering or a similar field. The student would join the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of South Alabama, and must meet eligibility requirements for the department (https://www.southalabama.edu/colleges/artsandsci/marinesciences/). A successful applicant will receive a three-year research assistantship with annual stipend (including tuition and health insurance); funding in subsequent years could be through either addition research projects or teaching assistantships. Qualifications
Applicants should have a degree in marine science, mathematics, physics, meteorology, engineering or a similar field. Programing skills in matlab or something similar would be ideal.
