The employees in these positions will conduct habitat surveys in Oregon streams. Duties include:
* Describing channel morphology and instream habitat characteristics.
* Assessing distribution and abundance of juvenile fish.
* Keeping accurate and clear data records.
* Hiking into and along streams daily.
* Working in hot, cold, rainy weather and over rough terrain.
* Communicating with the public to gain access to private land and to explain monitoring activities.
Employees must be self-motivated, willing to work under a variety of conditions, and responsible for the quality of data collected. There are no minimum qualifications for these positions; however, candidates with related field experience (such as experience in fish sampling, conducting habitat surveys, hydrology, or biological sampling) and who have or are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or a closely related degree in biological or ecological sciences will be given preference for interviews.

Applicants must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will check driving records for in-state finalists. Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current driving record for review.
