Description
A Heavy Equipment Operator (Administrative Professional, Special) position at Fort Stewart, Georgia is available with Colorado State University’s (CSU) Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). Qualifications
Required Job Qualifications A High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent required. Must have a valid Georgia Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) or the ability to obtain a Georgia Class A CDL by the employment start date. Must have the ability to operate all forestry heavy equipment over paved and dirt roads. Must be skilled in the operation, maintenance and repair of bulldozers, dump trucks, excavators, front-end loaders, motor-graders, and tractor-trailer trucks. Ability to maneuver equipment in confined areas. Possess basic knowledge of terrain and soil composition in order to determine approach for equipment. Ability to read maps, aerial photographs, and compasses. Familiar with installation roads, bridges, and access ways. Ability to work in all types of weather and hazardous working conditions including intense heat and smoke situations encountered during prescribed burns. Must obtain and maintain Georgia Level 1A Erosion and Sedimentation Certification required for moving/disturbing soil. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Must obtain Firefighter Type II (FFT2) National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) certification. The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Preferred Job Qualifications Desired qualifications include experience working in a highly structured organization and knowledge of Army Instructions, directives, guidance and processes.
